Keep the humor coming! I’ve read more funny stuff in the last week than all of last year.
I’m on another campaign. This time it’s to change the name social distancing to Physical Distancing. We humans need connection. We need social interaction, whether by phone, by text, by FB, Instagram, whatever, we need it. We need to reach out to people, especially the elderly. Don’t let them feel isolated and alone. A simple phone call will do – and most of us have plenty of time for a call during this crisis. Best of all, think of the good habits we are forming, from washing our hands more often to keeping in touch with our friends and family more than just at Christmas time.
So, right now I’m supposed to be on a camping trip. Since I’m not, I decided I could go ahead and eat the goodies I had already bought for the trip. The mixed nuts are going fast, and they weren’t even for me. It’s just impossible to behave, stuck at home during a snow storm with a box of groceries I don’t normally keep around the house. That’s my excuse anyway.
My eternal thanks go out to all of the health care providers and first responders working under such difficult circumstances to keep all of us safe and healthy. You are truly heroes. We realize now that we aren’t prepared. There aren’t enough PPEs, ventilators, masks, or hospital beds for a pandemic. But we can love, support and appreciate each other through this. We can prepare for next time. We can say thank you.
“Rhyaden,” my middle school/ young adult novel is on sale for 60% off on smashwords.com for the next month. They will download it to any format, Kindle, Nook, etc. that you might have. It’s a good read for your young people during our physical distancing future. My hope is that it helps some parents who might be about to tear their hair out. Read it with them even. Have them read it to you. It’s a good book!
