Summer

Summer days slip away so quickly. I am exhausted at the end of each one, but they are good days. The luscious colors that come with the heat gladden my heart. The sounds of kids playing outside and baby birds squawking in their nests, waiting not so patiently to be fed fill the morning and evening air. I am once again making plans for camping and kayaking and it doesn’t get any better than that.

The kid’s move has not been totally smooth sailing to say the least, but it is happening, step by slow step. The Utah house is no longer theirs, the Colorado house is. Now, the unloading and putting away begins. Of course, there are little details such as the new appliance broken by the delivery people, finishing the fence for the dog, epoxying the garage floor, hooking up services, figuring out what goes where, the boys choosing rooms, stuff like that. All in good time.

We got in a hot dog roast over the fire and some cousin swimming time. That was super fun on a very hot day. Both boys have crashed their scooters going down my driveway, both have earned their bandaids, and gotten right back on the horse. My daughter has gotten me into a wonderful fast walking routine every morning. I’m going to miss having her push me to do it when she gets totally moved into the new place.

So, for those of you who actually read my blog – all the way to the end – today is my birthday. I’m celebrating by making my first ever homemade cinnamon rolls and sticky buns and having all of my grandkids and kids together (we are missing one son-in-law plus my best friend who is also busy being a grandpa this week). Also important to me are all of you who read my blog, give me likes, and comment on occasion. You all have become a part of my life that is worth celebrating – and I appreciate each and every one of you. Here’s to another year!IMG-2209
