2nd Half

The days of our camping trip and outdoor adventures have flown by so quickly. It is sad that it is already time to return to my abode and take up the normal routine. One of the reasons it flew so fast was the fun of kayaking, buggy-ing, and hiking. Another indicator is how exhausted I have been at the end of each day. When you’re in good company and doing things you love – time flies.

We loaded up the kayaks and took off. By the time we reached the lake, the wind had come up and thwarted our plans. Disappointing to say the least, but our fault for not looking up the weather and noting the red-flag warnings for the day. To compensate, we stopped at the The Donut Mill and came home with a couple of goodies. What can I say?

When you can’t kayak, you hike. We made it up the mountain (not the one pictured – that’s Cheyenne Mountain – we were adjacent) and back down in one piece. We weren’t equipped well for the hike. I didn’t have my hiking boots (I did bring all of my kayaking equipment though) so parts of the descent were a little dicey because we were only following a game trail, and we didn’t think we’d be gone long enough to need water. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Typical for July, the heat is back on. Wheat harvest is going strong. My daughter and family are settling into their new home. The virus rages on. Ignoring it didn’t work. What can I say? Other than please be respectful of those around you because anything else is selfish.

Happy July – the 2nd half of 2020. Here’s to hoping this is the better half!cheyenne mtn
